If you want to take your dog on an adventure – this is a great place to go hiking or walking. There are several options at CARL BARTON, JR. PARK. Easy access off the Southeast Loop of 336. I am the adventurer – so wooded paths are my favorite and there are so many ways to go and get lost in here. Maybe taking a compass would be good 🙂 Watch out for bugs and mosquitos which were heavy in some areas (after the big rains). But the good news is you can scoot back out of the woods and get on the paved trail around the lovely pond.
As I go out to investigate some of these dog friendly places, I am amazed at the history I find about our cities. This park has several areas where trees were planted and dedicated. Check out the ones for Past Mayors.
Bring your own water and bowl (but you can find water at the restroom water fountains). Also bring your own Mutt Mitt’s (doggie bags). Perhaps we can eventually get some dispensers put out along the trail. Dogs must remain on a 6 ft or less leash here.
