Candy Cane Park, Conroe – Dog Friendly

Great park in central Conroe

Great park in central Conroe that you can take your dog.

Candy Cane Park is as nice as its name.  It is a great place to take your dog for a walk and it is centrally located in Conroe just off IH 45.   I suggest you park on the southside of the park – just up the hill.   You can pick up a Mutt Mitt and grab a drink of water.  Love that there is a dog spicket too.

One of my friends walks here often with her German Shepherd.   You will find a paved walkway (3/8 mile) going around the park, the play areas, pavilions and the lighted tennis courts.  There are plenty of open areas to play and several spots to stop and rest.   Remember you must keep your dog on a leash.

Also be sure to check out the helicopter on the northside which is part of the VFW.   Just a short walk over from the paved trail.   See you around the park!   For more info on Places to go:

Carl Barton, Jr. Park – Go Hiking in Conroe

A great day for a walk or jog around the lake

A great day for a walk or jog around the lake

If you want to take your dog on an adventure – this is a great place to go hiking or walking.   There are several options at CARL BARTON, JR. PARK.   Easy access off the Southeast Loop of 336.    I am the adventurer – so wooded paths are my favorite and there are so many ways to go and get lost in here.   Maybe taking a compass would be good 🙂   Watch out for bugs and mosquitos which were heavy in some areas (after the big rains).   But the good news is you can scoot back out of the woods and get on the paved trail around the lovely pond.

As I go out to investigate some of these dog friendly places, I am amazed at the history I find about our cities.  This park has several areas where trees were planted and dedicated.   Check out the ones for Past Mayors.

Bring your own water and bowl (but you can find water at the restroom water fountains).  Also bring your own Mutt Mitt’s (doggie bags).   Perhaps we can eventually get some dispensers put out along the trail.   Dogs must remain on a 6 ft or less leash here.
