YMCA – CONROE
Did you think the YMCA was just for people? Not so! At the Conroe YMCA they welcome their members to bring their dogs out hiking along their trails. This is a great adventure because the trails are wide and it is a lot of fun. Follow many different trails around the pond and through the woods. You can head due west to overlook West Fork San Jacinto River creek bed. I really enjoy these trails and I did not run into a bug/mosquito problem.
Note: Dogs must be on leash but you can bring an extension leash and let your pup run all around under your control. Bring water, dish and Mutt Mitts – as these are not supplied in the woods. Also, the YMCA has horses and you will come across people riding through these trails. Be sure to control your dog if horses are approaching – so no one gets spooked. I would wait several days after a hard rain as the main trails could still be muddy.
Membership: To use the YMCA facility – you must be a member… but it is a great place to be a part of. Check out what the YMCA offers: Workout facilities, Personal Trainers, Group Exercise Classes, Children’s programs, Racketball, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming for Kids and Adults and so much more. Membership fees are very reasonable – Check it out! If you need to use a members name for a membership deal – use mine (Brenda Follis-Lengyel)
